Franklin County Government - Caregiver Support Program - Grandparent Component

Eligibility

Individuals must meet the following criteria for services in this program: A) Grandparents or older relative caregivers must be 55 years of age or older B) Child(ren) must be 17 years of age or younger C) Caregivers must be the primary caregiver of the child(ren), and they both must live in the same residence D) Caregiver cannot be a biological parent and must be related by blood, marriage, or adoption E) Caregivers must have a legal relationship or be raising the child(ren) informally F) Total gross income of the entire household must be less than 380% of the federal poverty level

Application process

Individuals should call the office for an intake to be completed before services start. Individuals should have basic demographic and income information ready at time of intake.

Description

Offers aid to families who find themselves in a kinship care situation. Provides support services which include information to caregivers about available services; assistance to caregivers in gaining access to the services; individual counseling, organization of support groups, training of caregivers to assist them in decision-making and problem-solving that are related to their caregiving roles; and reimbursement for services and/or supplies.

Franklin County is governed by a board of three county commissioners elected every four years by the citizens who live here.
