Serves as the governing legislative body for Carbon County. Oversees county operations, including administration/ human resources, economic development, corrections, court services, emergency services, fiscal affairs, human services, public works, and the offices of the Coroner, Public Defender, Sheriff, and Solicitor.

Services include: Educating victims and witnesses of crimes about their rights and the proper procedures to follow Assistance with completing applications to Crime Victims Compensation Fund. Expenses that may be paid include: Medical, Counseling, Loss of Earnings or Support, Stolen Cash Benefits and Funeral Expenses. Provides information and referral to victims and witnesses for services such as emergency housing, transportation and child care Gives pre-trial tours of the Courthouse Provides emotional support to victims and witnesses Promotes public awareness of the need for victim services and the need for recognition of the rights of victims of crime

Provides information, assistance, and advocacy to all victims, witnesses and significant others to ensure that all victims and witnesses are treated with dignity, compassion and respect throughout the Criminal/Juvenile Justice System. Cases are assigned an advocate. Advocates will assist you in understanding the Criminal/ Juvenile Justice System as well as inform you of developments in your case as they occur.

Provides support to individuals, families, and groups/communities who are victims or witnesses of violent crime and homicide.

Represents clients with an internal team for comprehensive legal support. Services include, but are not limited to, immigration status, visas, deportation, citizenship, witness protection, and naturalization.

Raises community consciousness of sexual violence, initiates action against sexual violence, supports and empowers victims of sexual violence and their significant others, works towards the prevention of sexual violence through education, and advocates for the rights of fair or equitable treatment of survivors of sexual violence.

Provides advocacy and guidance to return to their pre-crime status. Assists criminal case proceed. Accompanies clients to any and all interviews with law enforcement, and meetings with prosecuting district attorneys. Advocates with employers, creditors, schools, and much more.

Reviews cases, prosecutes offenders, and issues subpoenas. Operates a Victim Witness program, which informs the victim of when the defendent is to appear in court, assists with victim compensation, and other services to support the victim.

Provides victims with the following: An Orientation to the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Systems; Accompaniment to Court Proceedings; Assistance with Filing a Crime Victims Compensation Claim; Assistance with Preparing a Victim Impact Statement; Notification of Case Status; Enrollment in the State and Local Correctional Release Notification Programs; Prior Comment on Possibility of Reducing or Dropping Charges; and Community Referrals.

Provides services to victims and witnesses of crimes, including case notification, case management, crisis and supportive counseling, impact statement development and assistance, restitution assistance, victim compensation assistance, legal advocacy, liasion with district attorney and law enforcement for criminal proceedings, and registration for notification of offenders release, escape, or transfer from prison.

Helps make the entire juvenile justice process more understandable and less stressful for the victims and witnesses of juvenile crime. Connects individuals with a Victim Service Coordinator, who is the advocate and guide for victims and witnesses as their case makes its way through the Juvenile Justice System. Assists victims and witnesses of crime. Services include supportive counseling, case status information, accompaniment to court proceedings, referrals to social service agencies, and assistance with filing for crime victim's compensation.

Helps crime victims and witnesses navigate through the criminal justice system. Victims have the right to be notified of court proceedings, to have plea input, to provide a victim impact statement to the court, to request restitution or victim's compensation, and to be accompanied to all court proceedings by an advocate.

ARD Program: The ARD Program (Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition) is a pre-trial diversionary program administered by the District Attorney's Office. After the preliminary hearing is held or waived a defendant may file an application in the District Attorney's Office. Private Complaints: With the exception of private bad check complaints, the District Attorney's office must approve all Private Complaints involving either a misdemeanor or felony. A private complaint is one brought by a citizen either without police involvement or where the police declined to get involved. Private Summary citations (minor offenses such as harassment) that are not accepted by a Magisterial District Justice also require approval by the District Attorney. Victim/Witness Assistance: It is the responsibility of the Victim/Witness Unit to ensure that victims are provided the rights as defined under the Prosecutor's Responsibilities of the Crime Victims Bill of Rights (Act 111 of 1998).

Informs victims and witnesses about the criminal justice process, provides information on victim legal rights and protections, and reports any victim-witness intimidation and/or retaliation. Also provides emergency relocation services, emergency funds, support groups, and victim awareness education.
