This program, part of a nation-wide program, provides skilled, compassionate care for victims of sexual assault. SAFNET nurses have received special education in the care of patients who have been sexually assaulted. These nurses have been taught to do a physical examination that includes the collection of evidence and specimens. They also give medicine as needed and explain the discharge instructions and follow-up plan to the patient and the patientâs family.

Rape exams may be traumatic and triggering after an assault. Support staff are available to support victims through the process. Also, can accompany victims to the police to file a report after an assualt/rape has occurred.

Offers a trained forensic interviewer to speak with the child one-on-one in a child friendly setting. The interviews are developmentally appropriate and legally sound. Forensic interviews are designed to be objective and non-leading, allowing the child to tell his/her own story.
