Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry - Johnstown Vocational Rehabilitation Services

The Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, or OVR, provides vocational rehabilitation services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, obtain, or maintain employment. OVR provides services to eligible individuals with disabilities, both directly and through a network of approved vendors. Services are provided on an individualized basis. The OVR counselor, during face-to-face interviews, assists customers in selecting their choice of vocational goals, services and service providers. An Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) is developed, outlining a vocational objective, services, providers and responsibilities. Certain services are subject to a Financial Needs Test (FNT) and may require financial participation by the customer. Counseling and guidance, diagnostic services, assessments, information and referral, job development and placement, and personal services such as readers or sign language interpreters are provided at no cost to the individual. The AbilityOne Program creates employment opportunities for individuals who are blind or severely disabled. Community Services Group - Vocational Programs for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities

Programs aid individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in searching for jobs, refining interviewing skills, and transitioning into the workforce through temporary employment positions. They focus on working with each person in the setting in which they are most comfortable. The Commerce Park Clubhouse offers a variety of employment opportunities such as Transitional Employment Positions (TEP)and Supported Employment, and also provides in-house support for those in Independent Employment. TEP’s and Supported Employment also receive Job Coaching, funded through OVR. Clubhouse administrators try to match members with positions that fit a member's needs and skill sets. Commerce Park Clubhouse has a wide variety of opportunities for members to get involved in everything from cooking to how to use a computer throughout the work day. The Tower Cafe is a vocational training restaurant operated by Community Services Group.
