The Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, or OVR, provides vocational rehabilitation services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, obtain, or maintain employment. OVR provides services to eligible individuals with disabilities, both directly and through a network of approved vendors. Services are provided on an individualized basis. The OVR counselor, during face-to-face interviews, assists customers in selecting their choice of vocational goals, services and service providers. An Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) is developed, outlining a vocational objective, services, providers and responsibilities. Certain services are subject to a Financial Needs Test (FNT) and may require financial participation by the customer. Counseling and guidance, diagnostic services, assessments, information and referral, job development and placement, and personal services such as readers or sign language interpreters are provided at no cost to the individual. Participants may be involved in the program on a transitional or ongoing basis, and are paid for their work. The nature of the work and the types of disabilities represented in the workforce vary widely by program.

Provides services utilizing a wide assortment of activities and opportunities to promote functional skill development. Services are center and community based. Supports are individualized and self-determined by each adult.

They are also available as subcontractors for warehousing, distribution and shipping, light assembly, collating, packaging, and shrink wrapping.

A vocational training program serving individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. Focused on facility based job opportunities. On a daily basis, program employees receive individualized training designed to improve vocational skills by performing vital job tasks procured from businesses within the community.

Assists consumers in finding jobs that fit their interests and needs. Provides on-the-job training while helping make necessary accommodations for each individual. Partners with local school districts to teach job skills and employment-related social skills to help students transition from school to work.

Programs aid individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in searching for jobs, refining interviewing skills, and transitioning into the workforce through temporary employment positions. They focus on working with each person in the setting in which they are most comfortable. The Commerce Park Clubhouse offers a variety of employment opportunities such as Transitional Employment Positions (TEP)and Supported Employment, and also provides in-house support for those in Independent Employment. TEP’s and Supported Employment also receive Job Coaching, funded through OVR. Clubhouse administrators try to match members with positions that fit a member's needs and skill sets. Commerce Park Clubhouse has a wide variety of opportunities for members to get involved in everything from cooking to how to use a computer throughout the work day. The Tower Cafe is a vocational training restaurant operated by Community Services Group.

Provides job readiness, career assessments, and customized employment for those who want to work and be financially independent.

Assists youth and adults with disabilities to prepare for, secure, and maintain or advance in employment in the local community to support their financial self-sufficiency. As part of their service delivery, they provide benefits counseling support to those individuals who receive SSI and/or SSDI to understand work's impact on their cash benefit and healthcare.

Serves as a community-supported agricultural (CSA) program for individuals with disabilities. Provides employment opportunities for adults who wish to work in an alternative context. Links the trainee farmer to the community in a real-world business relationship, and supplies the community with organically grown food options.

Individuals with mental and intellectual disabilities who are in the Haven Program use their job readiness skills to operate the 4 C's cafe in the Clinton County Community Center.

Offers assessments by licensed optometrists, prescriptions for optical aids, and the opportunity to try out aids ranging from magnifiers, writing guides, special lighting devices, and closed-circuit TVs. Prevention of blindness programs including free vision screenings for children 12 months to 6 years of age. Transportation: This free door-to-door service provides rides to essential medical appointment or critical service need, such as obtaining a photo ID or grocery shopping. Individuals must live in Allegheny County and meet the program criteria. Appointments requested to be made in advance.

Helping individuals with disabilities to achieve their full social, vocational and economic potential through sheltered workshop, community employment programs and various community work sites

Provides activities which helps to enable program participants to lead successful lives and connect to their community in meaningful ways. Utilizing both individual and small group settings, direct support professionals emphasize training activities that improve fine/gross motor coordination and promote independent care skills. Also offers the Work Activity Center. Program participants earn a paycheck while learning job skills and concepts. Through hands-on instruction, participants carry out contract work for area private companies.
