Institute for the Development of African-American Youth - Community Crisis Intervention Program

Uses a credible messenger model to prevent and reduce gun violence in Philadelphia’s most violent neighborhoods. Provides teams of crisis workers / credible messengers who ride and walk-through assigned Police Service Areas, mediate conflicts, and build meaningful relationships in the community to help prevent violence. Also provides outreach and referrals to resources to victims of violence crime.

Loans books, DVDs, and other items to special populations within Susquehanna County. Books-by-Mail is a service for anyone who has difficulty coming to the library for any reason. For parents who teach their children at home, Outreach services provides special borrowing privileges, assistance in selecting books within a curriculum, and monthly programs during the school year. Outreach Services also lends collections of books to teachers for classroom use, and extends services to daycare centers, nursing homes, the county correctional facility, and many deposit stations across the county.

    Northeast Regional Cancer Institute - Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program

    Provides help with low income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals who are not up to date with breast, cervical, colon and lung cancer screenings. This program provides individualized assistance to guide participants through the process of screening and if necessary, treatment and aftercare. The program also includes help finding resources to overcome barriers to screening, such as transportation and childcare needs, as well as matching participants with a primary care physician/practice for future preventative care.

    Provides outreach to the veteran homeless community by helping homeless veterans with clothing, hygiene, food, and any other comforts they may need. Offers assistance to homeless veterans who have addictions and offer to get them into treatment if they desire. FSB can help get with shelter, employment, and other services. A homeless veteran qualifies for care through the VA even if it is not service connected. As long as they are under the care of a program, they will get the medical help they need.

    Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veteran Affairs - Survivor Outreach Services

    Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) is available to all family members whose service member died while serving in the military. SOS Coordinators are the survivor's link to the military and provide perpetual long term support to Survivors by outreaching and educating to include newsletter, letters, e-mails, phone calls and visits. The SOS Coordinator will provide perpetual care to the survivors "as long as they desire".
